Spectroscopy – The Fingerprint of the Stars
If surgeon need scalpel to dissect patient (ouch), so does astronomer need their scalpel, that is by dissecting the light of the star, which collected by the telescope. Let is said, that spectroscopy is technical method to break the star-light into rainbow color (or electromagnetic wave in more general term – that is if the astronomer is not an optician) & see how the rainbow is so different between one star & another, this is the finger-print of the stars. So from this rainbow, we know about what is this star, this is the fingerprint of the sun, that one is sirius, that one is aldebaran, that one is capela, that one is betelgeuse, etc etc.
So here it is, the fingerprint of Sirius, not so special about it. Realy, you could check from spectroscopy atlas of stars anywhere, but one thing that is so special is shown by prof. Gerbaldi, there is one distinct line that related to water vapor above the LNO, oh dear, even the sky above the LNO is not so astronomically clear. *sigh* . Yeah, nothing is perfect, that is how the nature behave.
This evidence will be challenging for every observers who will observe from that site someday. Maybe our information might be invaluable someday? Or might be just stepped aside & forgotten?
Maybe? (with Nam’s style of speaking [Nam Sok Chong, -the Korean guy]).

Oh Yeah, I forgot to let you know that I had visited your new blog at langitselatan.com. Well to me, it is a bit unfriendly, not the people who are behind it, but the site itself. It is like I landed on an alien planet. The site is a bit more complex than that of an ordinary blog. But if it is your intention to take me to feel the oddity of astronomy, well I’m telling you that you have done a great job so far 😀 hehehe….
Yeah ..for most people, astronomy is in itself out of our world (earth) .. & i have to admit that is true. But, regarding the guestbook, yeah, i guess i just left the gb. out; because of, what i want to say is about the ‘astronomy’ & particularly the life of astronomy in south east asia & say the words that what i want to say, & nothin to do w/ social life, which should be covered on another story.
On the other hand, as you mention, gb. is needed for ‘acquaintanceship’, which is, this term is used in social-term. So, for me being an acquaintance is the normality of how the life goes, like in this case, should i need gb? I am not try to telling who i am, i am just trying to share the story .. *in a wierd way* .. 😀
But, .. fortunately, there are people who are not came from the field (of astronomy), and in the end .. now, nice to make your acquaintance.
Regarding langitselatan. .. rrr .. that is quiet interesting story & let me emphasize, that site is not mine, the site is belong to the community of astronomy in Indonesia, since the site is a new & also the community is new, in any way, so any correction, comment, critics are needed & welcome. If the sense is like in an alien planet .. as my notion before, astronomy is in itself out of our world .. hehehe ..

Hmmm I think there are some missing links in our communication here, and I believe it is necessary for me to fix things right. ‘Out of this world’ in this context (as displayed in my previous comment) is a phrase which means ‘excellent’. It is exactly synonymous with excellent, superb, extraordinary and many other things that come in the same pack! But of course, in that context I implemented it for a humourous purpose, because we all know that astronomy is absolutely a matter of extraterrestrials (out-of-this-world!). So there is a distinguishable ambiguity within the phrase and itt was not implemented for an insult nor a criticism. It is a mere compliment on the other hand. 🙂
Concerning the guestbook well in any place I’ve never mentioned that it is needed for an acquaintanceship, I said it ‘can give a little touch of it’, I think the phrase ‘can give’ is a far cry from the verb ‘too need’, as far as I know 😀
